South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is proud to announce the premiere of a new series, IMPACT South Carolina, as well as an opportunity for the public to attend a live studio taping of Palmetto Perspectives on Nov. 14 in observance of National Diabetes Day. The public is invited to screen the premiere episode of IMPACT South Carolina titled A Touch of Sugar, followed by a live taping of the SCETV series, Palmetto Perspectives, which will include an in-depth panel discussion on diabetes management, prevention and community impact.
IMPACT South Carolina is a new investigative series produced by SCETV, created to explore significant issues impacting South Carolinians. The pilot episode, A Touch of Sugar, focuses on diabetes in South Carolina, exploring its causes, treatments and the personal stories of those living with the disease. South Carolina ranks eighth in the nation for diabetes prevalence, with North Columbia’s 29203 zip code experiencing one of the highest rates of diabetes-related amputations in the country. This episode provides an eye-opening look at the impact of diabetes on South Carolinians and sets the stage for further discussion.
IMPACT South Carolina will premiere on ETV-HD on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m., followed by the live episode of Palmetto Perspectives at 8:30 p.m.
Palmetto Perspectives is an SCETV community engagement-focused series that brings stakeholders together to discuss the pressing issues facing South Carolina and its communities. This episode, titled The Diabetes Epidemic, will air live on Nov. 14 at 8:30 p.m. on ETV-HD and feature healthcare professionals, community leaders and advocates who will discuss causes, treatment strategies and preventive measures, fostering a community-centered approach to addressing diabetes in South Carolina. Palmetto Perspectives, a program known for its engaging, community-focused discussions, will bring experts together to propose actionable solutions for South Carolina’s diabetes challenges.
The public is invited to attend the live studio taping of Palmetto Perspectives on Nov. 14 as an audience member for the program. Filmed in SCETV’s Murray Studio in Columbia (1041 George Rogers Blvd., Columbia, SC), attendees will screen the episode of IMPACT South Carolina and then hear the discussions during Palmetto Perspectives. Check-in will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the SCETV Columbia lobby and the screening of IMPACT South Carolina will begin at 8 p.m. The live taping of Palmetto Perspectives will begin promptly at 8:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.
