South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) is dedicated to providing quality education and support to students who are deaf, blind or sensory multi-disabled. The school serves students from across the state on the main campus in Spartanburg and through statewide outreach programs.
Like South Carolina ETV and Public Radio, SCSDB is strongly committed to community engagement and outreach. Supporting programming enables them to connect with a wider demographic and create awareness about the services and educational opportunities available in the state. It also showcases the dedication to fostering a more informed and culturally rich society.
“By becoming an on-air sponsor of public radio and television, we are able to enrich learning experiences for our students as well as support a medium that provides educational content to a broader audience,” says Jolene Madison, the agency’s president.
South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind especially appreciates PBS KIDS programming with inclusive programming, which allows students and teachers to experience relatable content they love.
SCSDB is firmly rooted in the history and traditions of South Carolina. As a school, they are celebrating their 175th anniversary in 2024. Madison says, “we are excited to celebrate this milestone in our school’s history and the way SCSDB has impacted the state of South Carolina for generations.”
