The 2022 Telehealth Innovator award was presented to Brandon Welch Ph.D., during the 10th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held in November at the Charleston Gaillard Center.
Welch is an assistant professor in the Biomedical Informatics Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. He developed and launched doxy.me, a telehealth platform, which he created prior to coming to MUSC and prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is known by his peers to have a strong vision for advancing the technology that makes telehealth possible.
“When the pandemic hit he was there to help solve the problems, to remove barriers, to really just make sure that every health care provider in their state would have the tools that they need to take care of patients, sort of no questions asked,” said James T. McElligott, M.D., MSCR,
Executive Medical Director of the Center for Telehealth at MUSC. “And because of his focus on innovation and simplicity, we did have those.”
