The Greenville Symphony Orchestra (GSO) is dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of South Carolina by providing exceptional musical experiences for audiences of all ages. Founded in 1984, GSO has a rich history of bringing classical music to the community, growing from a small group of dedicated musicians to a renowned regional orchestra. Over the decades, GSO has endeavored to inspire, enrich and educate diverse listeners of all ages with concerts, mentorships and other high-quality music programs. Annually, GSO offers more than 100 free events that serve 25,000 people in the South Carolina Upstate, helping to cultivate a deep appreciation for the arts. 

Music Director Lee Mills highlights the value of South Carolina Public Radio’s delivers offerings, including Sonatas and Soundscapes, Chicago Symphony Orchestra radio broadcasts and Freakonomics! He notes, “SC Public Radio is an invaluable resource for the people of South Carolina, proving access to educational content, local news and cultural programming that enriches lives across the state.”

Mills further emphasizes the importance of local media in promoting the arts, stating, “South Carolina ETV and SC Public Radio has been instrumental in sharing our story. Having a platform that is so accessible is crucial for the success of any cultural organization.”
