South Carolina ETV (SCETV), in partnership with Fred Rogers Productions and the PNC Grow Up Great Foundation, is excited to announce the return of “Be My Neighbor Day,” a family-friendly event celebrating early learning and the importance of being a caring neighbor. This year's event will take place on March 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Carolina Children's Theatre, located at 153 Augusta Street in Greenville, SC. The event is free and open to the public.
“Be My Neighbor Day” brings families together to foster community connections and highlight the value of kindness and compassion. Parents, caregivers and children are invited to join the fun through interactive activities, special performances and opportunities to meet beloved characters including Daniel Tiger, the star of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and SCETV’s Smart Cat. Children can spark their creativity with engaging, hands-on crafts and activities. Materials may be limited, and activities are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event will also feature a variety of interactive performances and storytimes, including Tell Me A Story Theatre with South Carolina Children's Theatre, Scales and Tales with Roper Mountain Science Center Science on Wheels, a storytime with Greenville County Library, a water safety storytime with Goldfish Swim School and a family drum circle with Jeff Holland.
In addition to the activities and entertainment, families can participate in special acts of kindness, teaching children how small actions can create a positive impact in their communities. These acts of kindness include creating notes of encouragement and support for families in transition plus assisting in assembling comfort and care kits for the United Way of Greenville, Greenville Together and Greenville County Schools.
Attendees can also connect with community helpers, including the Greenville City Fire Department, Greenville EMS, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and other local organizations. Kids of all ages can learn more about the people who work to make their neighborhoods better places to live.
