Get ready to power up and play! Skillsville is an exciting new PBS KIDS animated series designed to help kids ages 4-8 build the essential skills they need to succeed in life and future careers.

Join friends Cora, Dev, and Rae as they dive into the game world of Skillsville, where they transform into their avatars—ParCora, Devosaurus, and Racer Rae! Their mission? To manage their own virtual city, take on different jobs, solve real-world problems, and work together to keep Skillsville running smoothly. When challenges arise, it’s up to them to find creative solutions using the skills they’ve learned.

A few of my favorite careers featured are Occupational Therapist, Arborist, Game Tester, Chemist, and Park Ranger. One hundred different careers will be highlighted in season 1.

Learning Through Play: Connecting Everyday Skills to Careers
Children constantly observe and learn about careers from the world around them—whether it's the mail carrier delivering packages, the nurse at the doctor's office, or the firefighter keeping the community safe. Skillsville helps kids explore these concepts through fun and engaging gameplay, encouraging them to think about the skills they’re building every day.

Try this when working with children:

  • Ask: What’s your favorite toy, game, or activity? What do you like about it?
  • Explore: Do you know any jobs where grown-ups do that too?
  • Reflect: What responsibilities do you have now that might help prepare you for a career?

You can also help your child learn about careers by:

  • Point out community jobs when you're out and about—the grocery store, the bank, sporting events. There are career opportunities everywhere!
  • Encouraging role-play where they “try on” different careers
  • Noticing careers in books, games, and TV shows like Skillsville!

“Build the skills you’re going to need to level up and succeed!” Happy Learning!
