South Carolina ETV series, “Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis,” showcases unique musical journey across South Carolina

South Carolina ETV is proud to announce its newest series, Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis, with episode one premiering on Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. on ETV-HD. Each of the four one-hour episodes takes viewers on a captivating journey through South Carolina’s historic towns with the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Patrick Davis. The series features Davis performing with a diverse lineup of award-winning musical guests in iconic settings across his childhood home state.

In each episode, Davis is joined by three different artists and songwriters for a live, unscripted concert experience. Off stage, Davis delves into the rich history and culture of each Southern town, engaging with locals and historians to uncover unique stories and traditions.

In addition to premiering locally on ETV-HD, Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis is also being distributed nationally by American Public Television (APT) to viewers of public television across the U.S. Viewers outside of South Carolina should check their local listings.

Patrick Davis has spent over two decades making his mark as a performer, songwriter and event producer, including his renowned Songwriters in Paradise. Celebrated as a critically acclaimed solo artist, he has also gained renown as a prolific songwriter, contributing not only to his own albums but also to the catalogs of icons such as Guy Clark and Jimmy Buffett. His fifth full-length album Carolina When I Die, due out late 2024, marks a transformative moment as Davis re-introduces himself as a Southern storyteller, a master craftsman and a versatile musician.

Below is a glimpse into each episode of Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis:

Episode 101: Arts Center of Kershaw County, Camden
Patrick is joined by Dan Tyminski, Kristian Bush and Marc Broussard in Patrick’s childhood hometown of Camden, SC. Patrick also learns about local legend Larry Doby, who was the first African American player in Major League Baseball’s American League, Camden’s role in the American Revolutionary War and the history of horse racing in Camden, which is known as the “Steeplechase Capital of the World.”

Episode 102: Greenwood Community Theatre, Greenwood
Patrick is joined by Jedd Hughes, James Otto and Taylor Hicks in Greenwood, SC. Patrick also learns about local hero Benjamin E. Mays- an icon of the American Civil Rights movement- the groundbreaking work being done at the Greenwood Genetics Center and famous 1960’s music makers “The Swingin’ Medallions,” who hail from Greenwood.

Episode 103: Sumter Opera House, Sumter
Patrick is joined by Charles Kelley of Lady A, Maggie Rose and Gabe Dixon of Tedeschi Trucks Band in Sumter, SC. Patrick also learns about local legend Bobby Richardson, who won two World Series with the New York Yankees, the magnificent Swan Lake and Iris Gardens and Sumter’s world-renowned sculptor Grainger McKoy, whose work is featured in museums and venues throughout the world.

Episode 104: Allen University, Columbia
Patrick is joined by Shawn Mullins, Drew Holcomb and David Ryan Harris at Allen University’s Historic Chappelle Auditorium in Columbia, SC. Patrick also learns about Columbia’s role in the American Civil Rights movement, the unique backstory of the auditorium and what Columbia was like during its 1990’s musical heyday by chatting with world famous local legends Hootie and the Blowfish.

Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis is produced and presented by South Carolina ETV.
