The 2024 Technology Champion Award was presented to Matt Hiatt, MSITM, PMP, during the12th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held last month in Hilton Head. Hiatt is Chief Technology Officer at Palmetto Care Connections.
The Technology Champion Award recognizes an individual champion in the area of technology who has overcome significant challenges at a local, state, and/or national level.
Hiatt played a critical role in expanding the South Carolina Healthcare Broadband Consortium to more than 10 states which resulted in cost savings for healthcare providers. He is known for his ability to simplify the use of new technology and teach digital skills in an easy way for others to understand.
“He is very passionate and really believes that telehealth is a great way to increase access to care in communities that have barriers such as transportation,” said Kathy Schwarting, MHA, chief executive officer at Palmetto Care Connections and co-chair of the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance.
Palmetto Care Connections is the host of the Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina. The Telehealth Summit brings together leaders and professionals interested in utilizing telehealth to increase access to health care.
