The 2024 State Telehealth Legislative Champion award was presented to South Carolina State Representative Sylleste Davis, Republican-Berkeley, during the 12th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held last month in Hilton Head. Davis is chairwoman of the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committees.
The State Telehealth Legislative Champion Award recognizes a legislator as a champion who has assisted with breaking significant barriers or supported revolutionary processes including telehealth that benefit communities on a statewide level.
Rep. Davis’ passion for improving access to quality healthcare is well known by her colleagues within the Legislature. They describe her as a problem solver who brings together stakeholders to have conversions on how to improve access to healthcare.
“Clearly telehealth is one of her passions, this is what is in her and those are the advocates that you want on these committees to advance these types of initiatives,” said Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb.
Palmetto Care Connections is the host of the Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina. The Telehealth Summit brings together leaders and professionals interested in utilizing telehealth to increase access to health care.
