On June 12, 2023, the EOC approved the Annual Report on the SC Teacher Loan Program (TLP), forgivable loans available to qualified SC residents in exchange for teaching in academic and/or geographic areas of critical need.
For 2021-22, applications and recipients of the loan were down significantly, with a 12-year low in applicants overall. One long-term strategy highlighted in the report is to initiate a comprehensive approach to restructure, streamline, and rejuvenate the TLP for all loan types.
