Agency launches Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship to honor devoted champion of education and public media in South Carolina
South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) is celebrating educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, held May 2-6, 2022. In addition, SCETV and the ETV Endowment launched the Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship to provide funding for South Carolina teachers to incorporate health and well-being into basic curriculum.
Dedicating 49 years to SCETV, Bobbi Kennedy was an education advocate and yoga enthusiast. The Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship seeks to recognize educators and provide financial support to create fun and impactful learning experiences for South Carolina students.
SCETV and the ETV Endowment will award two $1,200 scholarships-- one to an active teacher and one to a pre-service teacher. Scholarship funds may be used to cover the purchase of teaching and learning materials, student field trips associated with a lesson plan, and teacher preparation time to include preparation for a professional development workshop.
The deadline for applications is May 27 and scholarships awardees will be notified by June 3. Visit the Bobbi Kennedy Scholarship page for more application details and eligibility requirements.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, SCETV will also celebrate teachers with a social media “Teacher Thank-a-Thon.” Special messages and shoutouts to teachers in South Carolina will be shared on the agency social media channels-- Facebook at South Carolina ETV and SCETV Education, Instagram at South Carolina ETV and Twitter at @SCETV.
On May 19 at 7:00 p.m., an episode of Carolina Classrooms will air on SCETV about “Celebrating Educators.” Host Laura Ybarra will take viewers to the annual South Carolina Teacher of the Year Celebration where district teachers of the year will be recognized, and the 2023 SC Teacher of the Year will be announced. This episode will air again on the SC Channel on May 19 at 10:00 p.m. and on ETV World on May 23 at 10:00 a.m.
Teachers, thank you for all that you do.
