Dick Riley Statue
One of the state's most influential political figures, Dick Riley, was honored with a statue located in the Peace Center’s Graham Plaza on Monday, November 12, 2018. SCETV attended the public unveiling honoring Greenville native and former South Carolina Governor, Dick Riley, as well as his first cousin and artist, Zan Wells. Zan Wells was also instrumental in the “Mice on Main” installation, as well as several other historical figures, such as her life-sized rendering of Joel Roberts Poinsett in downtown Greenville, S.C . The statue features Riley reading an alphabet book to two children alongside the words "Education Really Matters" to signify Riley's dedication to public service and advocacy for quality education.
