This is the start of my third week at ETV, which is so hard to believe. It feels like I just got here! I’ve finally gotten into my groove, so my days run a lot smoother now. Last week, I went on a shoot that I organized and planned at the South Carolina State Museum. The footage we shot was about the new Race: Are We So Different? exhibit there. The video is a part of Palmetto Scene. It was really cool to interview the museum’s history curator and get a behind-the-scenes look at how the exhibit found its way to Columbia. I’ve always loved conducting interviews, so that was really fun for me.
What was even more fun was getting to use Tabitha’s camera and equipment. I’ve never worked with a Canon that had different lenses, so it was great experimenting with that. I learned how to get shots with different depths of field, which is something I’ve wanted to learn for a long time now. I also learned what a rolling focus is, so I’ll definitely be using that technique in my upcoming videos! I’m editing the video myself, so that’s been fun, as well. I usually work with Premiere, but I’ve been using Final Cut Pro for this project, which is cool because I think it’s worthwhile to have experience with multiple editing systems.
Even though it’s my third week here, I still can’t shake the shock that I was given such an amazing opportunity. I’m super-excited about the next seven weeks!
