This week in the State House, lawmakers dealt with issues of road repair and the budget. The House met in committee meetings all week to talk about budget details, preparing to take it to the House floor for debate in the next few weeks. The Senate took up the bill dealing with road repairs that would raise the gas tax by 12 cents a gallon. Sen. Tom Davis, a Republican Senator from Beaufort, continued his filibuster on the bill the whole week. He disagrees with the gas tax increase. Sen. Davis is in favor of restructuring the DOT to see if there can be better management of the funds that are already allotted to the department.
