Wolf Hall, starring Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance, tells the story of Thomas Cromwell, a blacksmith’s son who rises from the ashes and deftly picks his way through King Henry VIII's court. Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, the sequel to Wolf Hall is based on the final novel in Hilary Mantel’s trilogy.

Marie Antoinette

Premieres Sunday, March 23 at 10:00 pm on ETV

Marie Antoinette is just a teenager when she leaves Austria to marry the Dauphin of France. At Versailles, under the complex rules of the French court, she suffers from not being able to live her life the way she wants, under pressure to continue the Bourbon line and secure the Franco-Austrian alliance.

 

Call the Midwife

The Seventies start as they mean to go on, with Nonnatus House plunged into disarray when activists staging a bid for independence blockade access to the Isle of Dogs. Amid the poverty and uncertainty of life in a declining Docklands, the midwives must also face cases of manic depression, gonorrhoea, spina bifida, abortion – and an apparently immaculate conception.
