Covington Drive wildfire now 55% contained

On Monday, the South Carolina Forestry Commission reported that the Covington Drive wildfire that originated in a fire pit March 1 remains at 2,059 acres and is still considered 55% contained.

Former Lowcountry councilman to be arraigned after others plead guilty

A third, former North Charleston city councilman will be arraigned in federal court in Charleston Tuesday, nearly two weeks after two others pleaded guilty for their roles in a wide-ranging corruption scheme.

Low pressure increases rain & storm chances across South Carolina

A low-pressure system moves over the southern part of the Southeast and will impact South Carolina starting Sunday night. Rain and rounds of scattered storms will affect much of the State on Monday. The first batch of storms will impact the Lowcountry late Sunday night and overnight into Monday morning. The rain will move in and cover the entire state as winds bring moisture from the Atlantic. The rain will likely cover the whole state by sunrise. It will be a wet Monday, with the chance for isolated storms, mainly along the coast in the afternoon hours, likely by the Pee Dee during the afternoon.
