As we welcome the new year, South Carolina ETV and Public Radio is excited to present programming that reflects the spirit of renewal and honors major historical milestones that mark the beginning of the year. Throughout January, programs will reflect on the past as well as explore influential figures and moments in history.

The journey begins on January 1 with Great Performances: From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2025 at 8 p.m. This annual tradition showcases the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, bringing the joyous and uplifting sounds of the New Year into homes. It’s a perfect way to reflect on the past year and welcome new beginnings with hope and inspiration.

On January 20, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the airing of The Stone of Hope: Moving the Dream Forward at 9 p.m. This powerful documentary delves into Dr. King’s profound impact on the Civil Rights Movement and his enduring message of equality and justice. The Stone of Hope: Moving the Dream Forward offers viewers a moment to reflect on Dr. King’s contributions and aspire to continue his work to create a more just and equitable society. The 60th Presidential Inauguration will also stream online and be broadcast live on ETV-HD and SC Public Radio’s network on January 20 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

In solemn commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27 at 9 p.m., we premiere Resistance: They Fought Back, a compelling documentary that tells the stories of those who courageously resisted the horrors of the Holocaust. This premiere will be followed by the Palmetto Scene Special—Remembering the Holocaust on the South Carolina Channel at 9:30 p.m., offering a local perspective on the impact and legacy of this dark chapter in history.

In the continued spirit of renewal, SCETV digital platforms continues to make high-quality, engaging and educational content accessible to audiences through the convenience and flexibility of digital media with the premiere of Original SC.

January is dedicated to showcasing SCETV’s commitment to providing content that fosters a deeper understanding of our world. We hope these programs will encourage you to consider our shared history, honor the legacies of those who have shaped our present and aspire to build a brighter future together.

Thank you for your continued support of South Carolina ETV and Public Radio. We look forward to sharing more meaningful moments with you in this new year.
