Pacolet, South Carolina started as a railroad stop called Pacolet Station. Later a large textile mill was built in the area, becoming the center point of activity for a large majority of the town. The mill provided amenities to workers like childcare ahead of its time.
Though the town suffered downturns with the closing of its high school and mill, Pacolet continues to thrive today. Longtime residents cherish the close community ties from the past. Looking to restore these strong ties are local businesses and community organizations like Callous Moto Coffee Garage and the Benjamin E. Mays Family Center.
