In a time of uncertainty, one South Carolina guidance counselor is reaching out to help her community. Jordan Culbreth works at Westview Elementary School in Goose Creek. She, along with her husband, created a music video to reach her students. It’s a video with a very specific message.
“We are all in this together and even though at times we may be frustrated or anxious or feel alone, that it really is going to be okay,” says Culbreth.
The story is of Walter the Whale and a jellyfish named Flo. Culbreth says she wants everyone to know, “that sometimes we just have to go with the flow even though going with the flow can be pretty hard.” It’s a message that she hopes will help her students. “There’s just no better job out there. I get to help kids socially, emotionally, academically and I love providing that support,” Culbreth adds about working at Westview Elementary.
Culbreth’s husband is the musician and creative director behind the video. John Keith Culbreth plays in and produces music for the band Stop Light Observations. “He went along with the lyrics and helped choreograph the dance and produce the entire song, so it was not only a really fun activity for us, to kind of put our creativities together, but also for the kids to see,” says Culbreth.
