A week after the church shooting that left nine church members dead, Mayor Joe Riley sat down with Palmetto Scene to talk about how his city is moving forward and finding healing. He said the greatest thing that his city was doing was showing love to each other. Love, he said, is stronger then the hate that was shown by the shooter during the Bible study.
Mayor Riley addressed the issue of race in South Carolina, and his hopes for the city and for the state to move forward and make progress in this area. The Mayor also spoke on the Confederate flag and how he supports Governor Haley's efforts to see the flag removed from the State House grounds.
