Clemson University’s Restoration Institute dedicated the Drivetrain Testing Facility in North Charleston on November 21st. Palmetto Scene caught some of the highlights from the event. The facility was made possible because of a $45 million grant from the Department of Energy along with many private contributions.
A facility spokesperson says, "The center houses the world’s most-advanced wind-turbine drivetrain testing facility capable of full-scale highly accelerated mechanical and electrical testing of advanced drivetrain systems for wind turbines."
This facility not only will be a resource for our future energy portfolio, but could also provide an increase in economic development across South Carolina.
