Solar Energy is generated from the Sun but how does it actually produce electricity that we can use? Don Zimmerman with the South Carolina Solar Council explains the process of how this all works together.
“The sun illuminates the solar panel and we have this whole row that’s interconnected. The output of this row come into these two wires, this is 600 volts DC and then all these different rows get combined together in a fuse disconnect system and then from here it goes down off the roof to an inverter the DC power or direct current gets converted to AC power or alternating current that the power company can use. That gets transferred to the transformer that gets converted to the medium voltage or 15,000 volts and then goes up to the power pole.”
