Harvesting Heritage: Lowcountry Legacy
Harvesting Heritage with Chef Amethyst Ganaway returns - and the popular event series is now on the road. At the Penn Center on St. Helena Island, a special evening will be held honoring the historic contributions of Black South Carolinians and their descendants in the Lowcountry. Enjoy small plates featuring collard green salad with Anson Mills Sea Island Red Peas, okra stew with rice, smoked shrimp dip on crackers and Mr. Ron’s Gullalicious Pound Cakes. Guest speakers include emerging griot Tendaji Bailey, Gullah matriarch Sara Green, acclaimed chef BJ Dennis, and Gullah cultural steward and artist, Victoria Smalls.
