The Camellia Tea

Edgefield camellia club hosts traditional tea The Camellia Tea, sponsored by the Edgefield Camellia Club. Admission is free and open to the public. Previous teas have attracted people from all parts of the state and beyond and featured more than 225 camellia blooms presented in the rooms of Magnolia Dale, an antebellum home that is the headquarters of the Edgefield Historical Society. The event is a continuation from 1949 when Edgefield was famous for its camellias and blooms were displayed at the home of Joe and Chrissie Holland at their "Camellia Tea". In addition to camellias, the event includes tea, of course, sandwiches and sweets presented in the style of 60 years ago with silver service and linen napkins. Attendees are invited to bring their unidentified camellia blooms to be examined by camellia experts.
