Melanie Davis Boyer
Joining South Carolina Public Radio and ETV as Corporate Sponsorship Manager in 2009, Melanie Davis Boyer manages SCETV’s corporate sponsorship program, which is an integral part of public media’s fundraising model, through which businesses and other organizations support the station’s mission by helping to underwrite the cost of production and programming, and, in doing so, gain exposure for their company by their business message being in front of SCETV’s viewers and listeners.
“Our sponsorship reps are a little bit like matchmakers; finding businesses and organizations whose products, services and events are a good match for our listeners and viewers, but that will also be of interest to our audience, who tends to be very loyal to SCETV, and, in turn, supportive of our business sponsors,” said Boyer. “It has been our privilege to work for an organization that serves as the state’s archiver of education, history, and art, that not only creates and distributes quality content day-in and day-out, but also serves so many different constituents in our state: students, teachers, law enforcement, emergency preparedness personnel, and every South Carolinian.”
Prior to joining South Carolina Public Radio and ETV, Boyer worked for a number of commercial media outlets in market research and advertising, including work for The State Media Company (The State and The Sun News), Clear Channel Radio, and WIS Television. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising / Public Relations from the University of South Carolina’s College of Journalism, and likes to say she followed her father into the business, as he was a television and radio repair technician. Boyer works from the station in Columbia, but the corporate sponsorship team canvases the state.
