Founder & CEO of Health Evolve Technologies

Kim A. Smith is the Founder & CEO of Health Evolve Technologies. With 18 years of executive leadership experience in top healthcare systems— including Duke Medicine, Tenet Healthcare, and MUSC Health—Kim has mastered leadership development, hospital and medical group operations, business expansion, and health equity.

Kim received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Public Health from Wake Forest University and her Master of Health Policy Administration from the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. Kim’s passion for maternal health equity is deeply personal—shaped by her own experience with HELLP Syndrome, a life threatening hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.

In 2023, she launched Health Evolve with a unique strategy to address these gaps. Currently, her team is focused on the development of Lauren, a digital health solution designed to support blood pressure control, diabetes management and anxiety/stress factors for women from conception through postpartum care.

Her work with the Preeclampsia Foundation was published in the Journal for Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities with the article entitled “Addressing Racial Disparities in the Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy: A Plan for Action from the Preeclampsia Foundation’s Racial Disparities Taskforce”.

Kim now serves on the Board for the Midlands South Carolina Chapter of the American Heart Association and is the Board President for 2024/2025. Kim is a dynamic voice in improving the health and wellbeing of women and families across the State of South Carolina. She serves on two statewide taskforces - the Maternal Health Innovation Collaborative and the SC Rural Maternal Health Access Taskforce.

Kim Smith also is a member of Liberty Fellowship of South Carolina Class of 2025 - a program of Aspen Institute. Through this program, and in concert with her doctoral dissertation work, Kim seeks to align the state’s health improvement plan with the economic development strategies throughout South Carolina. Outside of her professional success, Kim is a leader in her church, Right Direction Church International - where she and her husband have been members for over 15 years.

When she is not working or serving the community, Kim is enjoying time with her husband, Terrell, and their three sons- Tyson, Cameron and Austin.
