Furman Fortner

Instructional Technology Specialist

I’m excited to serve as an Instructional Technology Specialist with SCETV Education. Previously, I worked as a  graphic designer and illustrator for various businesses and organizations. I always strive to learn new techniques to better myself professionally and I want to help educators do the same! I have extensive experience in the design of educational materials for a public facing audience and I want to share those skills with educators to make their lives just a bit easier. I love South Carolina, I love the people, and I love the public education I received here. Because of that, I want to give back to my community and that is what led me to becoming a trainer with SCETV.

With a career path like the one I took, learning new programs, systems, and devices was just a part of my day-to-day life so I have a natural love for technology and digital spaces. My goal is to help educators learn new ways to innovate and problem solve in the classroom by using technology and creativity. My motto is “happy to help” and I bring that energy with me wherever I might be training, virtually or in-person, I want to help you!

Technology is growing every single day and no other generation has been absolutely intertwined with a digital lifestyle like today’s youth. We all have that younger relative who is an absolute whiz with an iPad or a computer and I want to apply how they learned to use technology to how I teach about design and technology. My approach in training is to give hands-on experience and teach by showing real world and classroom scenarios for whatever topic I’m working with.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2016 and have been a Gamecock, through good times and bad, since I was small. I also love to cook and I’m absolutely obsessed with food and trying anything anyone puts in front of me.
