Darlene Gathers

Darlene Gathers is the Chief Financial Officer at South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV), engaged in the pivotal role of providing strategic financial management. Gathers assumes responsibility for stewardship and oversight of all financial aspects of SCETV, ensuring the organization’s fiscal well-being and integrity, enhancing long-term sustainability.

Darlene’s career began in State government finance with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division. She has served in finance roles with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, SC Department of Juvenile Justice and progressively served in management with the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind and SC Department of Social Services. Prior to joining the SCETV team, Darlene served as the Assistant Director of Budget and Grants with Richland County government. She brings over 20 years of combined experience in State and County government finance. 

Gathers holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Benedict College and a dual master’s degree in business administration and health administration from Webster University. She has a SC Certified Public Manager professional designation.
