Director of Learning Experiences and Innovation

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.“ - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Welcome to my page!!

My professional experience combines my love for teaching, instructional design, and technology. For 11 years, I taught middle and elementary school in rural South Carolina. I have experience teaching a number of subjects, but social studies is my favorite! In addition to teaching fifth and sixth grade social studies, I’ve also served as my district’s social studies curriculum liaison. In 2017, I served on the 2020 South Carolina Social Studies College- and Career- Ready Standards writing committee and created a number of lesson plans for the South Carolina Department of Education, University of South Carolina, South Carolina African American Heritage Foundation, and South Carolina Geographic Alliance.

I was elected Elementary Representative for the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies Board of Directors. I was on the selection committee for the NEH Summer Teachers’ Institute “America’s Reconstruction: The Untold Story” in Beaufort, SC, which I attended.  I serve as Secretary for the South Carolina Council for African American Studies Executive Board, Vice President of the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies, and South Carolina Council on the Holocaust.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and discuss all things regarding instructional technology tools, SCETV and PBS resources, social studies, and character education!
