Besides their bundle of joy, new moms leave the hospital with stacks of information meant to help get the baby on the right track. A Lowcountry group of volunteers is using that post-partum window to educate mothers about the advantages of early reading.
At the mother’s hospital bedside, volunteers with Born To Read explain the benefits and also gift the baby with a new book and a bag full of goodies. The goal is to surround children with books and words from day one.
