The sun beat down on the Novant Health BMX Supercross Track in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as media professionals from the area congregated at the registration booth. After they registered with The City of Rock Hill, they received one-day USA BMX licenses, got fitted for a BMX bike and helmet, and met the professional BMX riders who would be their coaches for the day. This was the Rock Hill BMX Media Showdown, an event organized by the City of Rock Hill in which media outlets rivaled against each other in a race to the finish line. This event also allowed media outlets to learn more about the sport of BMX and the UCI BMX World Championships coming up in July.
BMX World Championships Qualifier and Rock Hill resident, Anna Beynon, coached SCETV producer Kaitlyn Cannon. Originally from Atlanta, Beynon moved to Rock Hill three years ago, specifically to be able to practice on the Novant Health BMX Supercross Track. Beynon says, “It kind of spoils me…but it’s so awesome to have such a good facility that is open so many days of the week to get to train on.”
