StoryCorps is in Columbia, South Carolina to collect interviews with residents.
StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. They acheive this by recording and celebrating the stories of everyday Americans. They are partnering with South Carolina Public Radio to record, preserve, and share the stories of Columbia, South Carolina, from November 17 – December 19, 2016.
The StoryCorps segment is heard each Friday morning on SC Public Radio. Select stories are also animated and shown on South Carolina ETV each week. StoryCorps may also share excerpts of these stories with the world through the project’s digital platforms and best-selling books.
Reservation slots will open on Nov. 18. Reservations may be made by calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour, toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.org. A StoryCorps interview is 40 minutes of uninterrupted time for meaningful conversation with a friend or loved one. For tips on what to expect during a session, visit the StoryCorps' website.
With participant permission, StoryCorps interviews will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
