2023 Rick Foster Primary Care Telehealth Champion

Dr. Rick Foster was posthumously honored during the Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina held this month in Greenville with the 2023 Dr. Rick Foster Primary Care Telehealth Champion award. Dr. Foster died earlier this year following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Named after him, the award recognizes an individual champion in the area of primary care.

The purpose of this award is to recognize primary care physicians who have implemented or increased telehealth utilization in their practice. The award honors his memory and his legacy of passion to create a healthier South Carolina by connecting people, resources, ideas and purpose.

Dr. Foster was respected by many and known throughout South Carolina for his tireless efforts to improve access to high-quality, equitable healthcare. He had a larger than life personality and could motivate and inspire others. He was committed to serving the underserved of South Carolina.

“He was committed and dedicated his life to making sure that everybody, no matter who you were, where you lived, you had the access to care,” said Juana Slade, Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Diversity and Language Services at AnMed Health.
