PBS NewsHour Selects Greenville Students as Reporting Labs Fellows

Kimberly Castro-Rebolledo and Christian Peebles of Legacy Charter School

South Carolina ETV and the PBS NewsHour are extremely excited to announce that Greenville students Kimberly Castro-Rebolledo and Christian Peebles of Legacy Charter School have been selected as Student Reporting Labs Fellows and will attend NewsHour’s annual academy this summer from June 25-30. Thanks to the very hard work of Student Reporting Lab Connected Educator Neena Kumar and mentor producer Kaitlyn Cannon of South Carolina ETV, Kimberly and Christian will join 20 other students from across the country who are traveling to Washington, D.C. to work alongside public media mentors to produce original digital content and sharpen their journalism and production skills. The fellows will also help program leaders develop strategies to engage young people with the news and current affairs, and ensure that diverse youth voices are active in the conversations about critical issues facing the nation. The selection process was very competitive, with over 2,000 students participating in Student Reporting Labs every year.  South Carolina ETV mentors students each year.
