HERO Live; Jim Crow

Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips have a new name … HERO Live! Designed to support American history education for 4-8th grade students, HERO Live! Jim Crow premieres February 11 at 1:00 p.m. All SC schools may view on ETV’s SC Channel (SCC).

Using 21st century technology and dramatizations with re-enactors to play the roles of historical figures, the HERO Live! programs are correlated to standards, providing a compelling learning experience. This NEW program, the fifth in the 2015-16 series, looks at life under “Jim Crow.”

This powerful program carries you from the post-Civil War promise of citizenship and equality for African Americans to the harsh realities of the system of legal segregation known as “Jim Crow.” Between dramatic scenes short documentaries, watch students discover what primary sources reveal about life under Jim Crow and its effects.

This program is produced by Colonial Williamsburg in partnership with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and Teaching Tolerance, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Watch HERO Live!: Jim Crow on February 11 at 1:00 p.m. on ETV’s SC Channel (SCC).

Plan to view other programs in the series: March 10 and April 14, 2016. ALL programs air at 1:00 p.m. on the SCC and SC schools have fair use rights to use for 10 days and erase within 45 days.
