P.A. Bennett (@pabennett_etv) says she actually started her career in communications at about four years old reporting to the church congregation the goings-on in her beginners’ Sunday school class. It was there that she got the encouragement to keep on talking to whomever would listen.

Bennett graduated from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. After roughing it for a couple more years after graduation in the cold and uncomfortable climate of the Midwest, she returned to South Carolina.

Her formal career as a journalist started at WYFF-TV in Greenville, South Carolina. An old boyfriend suggested she audition at the station where he was a photographer. She got the job, not on-air, but as assistant to the producer for the six o’clock news. She learned the television news business from the bottom up. From news room gopher and cub reporter to show producer and host it has been an exhilarating and sometimes bumpy ride.

She switched sides and became a P.R. person in state government for awhile, then back to television and radio. First in commercial television as a week-end anchor for a local station. Now she rations her time in both commercial radio and public television.
