Beginnings: A New Program for South Carolina Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

While hearing loss occurs in 9 to 10 per 1000 school-age children, most people are not familiar with the massive impact hearing loss can have on school readiness, language development, reading and more Additionally, when including chronic ear infections, as many as 1 out of every 7 children in each classroom is experiencing permanent and/or temporary hearing loss. On this week's podcast we'll hear from the two founders of Beginnings in SC, patterned after North Carolina's program which has been around for 26 years. Beginnings starts serving families at diagnosis (or at the time of referral) and continues services until age 22,  at no cost to the families. Join us and learn more about Beginnings!
