An Update from the South Carolina Public Charter School District

This week on the podcast, interesting news from Dr. Wayne Brazell, Superintendent of the South Carolina Public Charter School District (SCPCSD). The idea of a charter school district represents an expansion of public school choice in South Carolina. This district is the newest school district in South Carolina and already ranks in the top half of all districts in the state with regard to size. The district now has over 14,000 students in 24 schools. Through the innovative spirit of educators, parents, students, and communities in the state, a wide array of public charter schools is being established. It is the mission of the SCPCSD to assist these schools and insure they are surviving and flourishing as high-quality charter schools. Charter schools are exploring new ways of enhancing student learning. The schools are held accountable through the SCPCSD for rigorous academic standards for students.
