A First for a Children’s Museum and High Marks for State Standards On Civil Rights Education

Monday - April 14, 2014

The Children's Museum of the Upstate (TCMU) located in Greenville will celebrate its fifth anniversary this summer, but it has already received a highly coveted gift. The Smithsonian Institution awarded the Children's Museum with an affilliate status, the sole children's museum with that designation in the country. Nancy Halverson, TCMU CEO joins us for details on what the affilliate status means and other news from the museum. And, Lewis Huffman, Social Studies consultant in the State Department of Education, has received notice of accolades given to Social Studies standards on Civil Rights Education. Learn more about this achievement on this week's Speaking of Schools podcast!
