USC Upstate Students Learn TV Production at ETV Upstate
From 1997 to 2007 ETV Upstate partnered and produced USC Upstate’s higher level distance learning SBSN nursing courses using its Satellite Distance Learning Studio. Classes were conducted weekly, every semester, usually from 8:30am to 5:00pm including Summer I and Summer II.
From 1994 to 2011 USC Upstate used ETV Employees as Adjunct Professor’s to teach “Advanced Video Production. (SFLM-426) in their studios during Spring semester. The class was taught using the ETV Upstate Studio as a classroom and Lab for Students. Many of the graduates went on to work in the television industry. One former student of the class was hired by ETV as the editor of ETV’s statewide flagship program, “The Big Picture”, and “Statehouse Week”.
In 2007, ETV Upstate served as the production facility for 22 television shows titled ‘Upstate’ for USC Upstate. The show was produced by USC Upstate, and ETV Upstate was responsible for the studio work, final editing and making sure the show was broadcast quality. It aired on Greenville cable stations and ETV’s South Carolina Channel.
In 2012, ETV Upstate started a partnership with USC Upstate to host formal Journalism courses in its studio.
Fall 2012 was the first semester of SJOU 330, TV STUDIO PRODUCTION. In this class students learn television studio production skills that prepare them to work in the television industry. Students are also afforded the opportunity to work with ETV employees on studio and other projects.
