Welcome back from your holidays! January is a time when educators assess their mid-year status and accomplishments. This month on Carolina Careers we are honored to have new Office of Career and Technology Education (OCTE) director Susan Flanagan and the director of the Office of Student Interventions Dr. Sabrina Moore share their respective updates on state career and technology education (CTE) and the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) accomplishments and directions.
Dr. Moore will present EEDA Sixth Annual Report: Palmetto State Success through Academic and Career Excellence. Ms. Flanagan will provide Career and Technology Education: Where We Are and Where We’re Going. South Carolina has much to be proud of with both programs. Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of Palmetto State educators involved with both programs. This will be a great time to pat yourself on the back!
We will also return to Lexington Technology Center in January to learn more about their program with a segment entitled Lexington Technology Center, Part Two: Community Partnerships in Career and Technology Education, featuring the center’s director Lexington One’s Ken Lake and Lexington One’s Superintendent Dr. Karen Woodward. Along with their team of CTE and guidance professionals, they will discuss how they created winning partnerships with area corporations and colleges to benefit their CTE students.
South Carolina is fortunate to have beautiful gardens in every corner of the Palmetto State thanks to the work of some great landscape designers. Be sure to watch Welcome to My Career!, featuring landscape designer Renee Byrd who will discuss outstanding career options within the popular career cluster, Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. Our beautiful landscapes in our state will need more talented landscape designers in the next decade to keep South Carolina beautiful!
