StreamlineSC Up for Renewal This Summer

StreamlineSC Up for Renewal This Summer

Every five years ETV is required to go through the state procurement process to vet the media-on-demand service we use for StreamlineSC. It started ten years ago with unitedstreaming, which was bought out by Discovery Education. It was again vetted through the state process five years ago and we again looked at various providers to see if there were other similar more cost effective service providers to partner for ETV StreamlineSC. Again, Discovery Education won the contract we are currently under for another five years.

Presently, we are reviewing potential partner services and looking for the best service to assist teachers and students as we all move to more innovative approaches in personalized one-to-one instruction delivered over the web.

It is very important to note that no matter what the outcome of the procurement process, StreamlineSC will not go away as an ETV service to the schools. However, there is a possibility another vendor will provide the content features and service we presently utilize through Discovery Education. On the other hand, as we did after the last two procurement processes, we may continue to use Discovery Education.

We hope to know the final decision before the end of this school year in June. So … keep a lookout for the final decision on a StreamlineSC vendor. ETV will announce the decision as soon as the state procurement office releases the decision. Be sure to check the June edition of the ed-news bulletin for information.
