ETV Announces Changes FY13-14
To start the new school year, ETV is announcing new and upgraded K-12 services, and discontinuing other ones. This September, we’re excited to offer new resources that are available on the Web, including the following:
- A new ETV Teacher Courses Web page to help teachers and administrators find the recertification credit they need quickly
- An upgrade to our FREE PBS LearningMedia on-demand site. For one year only, ETV will offer a more robust premium service, including an additional 800 PBS programs
- And the OnePlaceSC Web portal that has now been simplified and improved, no longer requiring a login
ETV is upgrading its delivery of K-12 services to a fully on-demand system. Last year, we offered both a traditional K-12 Instructional Media Channel (IMC) and on demand Web-based and cloud deliveries. Based on teacher responses we’ve discontinued the K-12 IMC to focus those resources on wireless broadband service and the district portal systems employed statewide. ETV will seek pilot sites with school districts across the state and address evolving technological needs that will benefit from Web-based learning approaches. Technical support will focus on the newer portal distribution systems and pilot programs, rather than the traditional building distribution systems. Customary live programs previously delivered over the K-12 IMC, such as Colonial Williamsburg's electronic field trip, will be offered on the South Carolina Channel and will use the Web for interactive lessons.
We have also sent a copy of this email to your superintendent. If you have any questions or feedback on any ETV services, such as StreamlineSC or Knowitall.org, please contact us. ETV hopes your new 2013-2014 school year is full of promise and expectations.
Thank you for all you do!
