Donate Your Vehicle FAQ
What are the benefits of donating my vehicle to charity?
The ETV Endowment benefits from the donation of your vehicle by receiving the proceeds from the sale of your vehicle. The proceeds are used to fund the purchase and production of educational, enlightening and entertaining programming you see and hear on ETV and ETV Radio. Further, your vehicle donation makes you a full member of the ETV Endowment. Your vehicle donation constitutes a tax-deductible gift to the Endowment. With the Endowment's vehicle donation program, we make it easy. You avoid all the hassles of selling your vehicle while making an investment in ETV and ETV Radio.
Does my vehicle have to be running to donate it?
In some cases we can take your vehicle, running or not. However, it must have an engine and be towable. Contact a representative at the number above to find out if your vehicle qualifies for pick-up.

FAQ: Tax Questions
Is my vehicle tax deductible?
The ETV Endowment of South Carolina, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Donations to the ETV Endowment of SC are tax deductible.
Will I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes, our representative will issue a receipt at the time of pick-up. This initial acknowledgement will indicate your name as well as the year, make, model and condition of the vehicle you are donating. It will be your only receipt if your vehicle sells for less than $500. If the proceeds of the sale of your vehicle exceed $500, an IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats and Airplanes will be issued to you. This form will be mailed to you within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds received from your vehicle, provided your vehicle sold for at least $500. This will be your tax receipt for your charitable donation.
How do I determine the amount of my tax deduction?
If the proceeds from the sale of your vehicle exceed $500, we will send you an IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats and Airplanes. This form will state the amount of the gross proceeds from the sale of the donated vehicle, which is the amount of your tax-deductible contribution. However, if your vehicle does not sell for at least $500, then you will determine the value, not to exceed $499.99.
