SCETV Producer Betsy Newman Honored

Betsy Newman

Betsy Newman, an award-winning documentary and web content producer at SCETV, has been awarded the Governor’s Award in the Humanities today, presented by SC Humanities. The award recognizes outstanding achievments in humanities research, helping South Carolinian communities understand their cultural heritage related to the humanities, and bringing South Carolina's cultural life to the world. Focusing on history and culture, Newman has produced 12 documentaries about the Palmetto State.

John Crockett, ETV's Vice-President of Engineering, receives award

John Crockett, South Carolina ETV's Vice President of Engineering, has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by Major General Robert E. Livingston, Jr., the Adjutant General of South Carolina. The Medal and Citation were presented by Kim Stenson, Director of the South Carolina Emergency Management Division on August 18, 2016.

Book Based on SC Public Radio Interviews Wins Award

Dr. Walter Edgar and his award-winning book

SC Public Radio host Dr. Walter Edgar’s book Conversations with the Conroys has won a Bronze Award from the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards.  The book explores the family of South Carolina-based author Pat Conroy, who was best-known for The Great Santini and The Prince of Tides.

Annual Literacy Leaders (ALL) Awards Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for the 2016 awards program.

ALL awards are presented by the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at the University of South Carolina in the fall of each year to individuals and/or groups that have had a statewide impact on literacy in South Carolina. 

Their contributions can include the following kinds of activities:

• developing and implementing innovative and creative approaches to literacy education;
