This month ETV is again participating in the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s initiative, American Graduate Day, Oct. 3 beginning at 11 a.m. This multi-platform project, whose goal is to help students stay on the path to high school graduation, includes a full-day broadcast that highlights success stories across the nation, segments geared to reach adults who have already dropped out, online classroom resources, and viewer participation via Facebook and Twitter, using the hashtag #AmGrad.

  75% of all enslaved Africans coming to America came in through the ports of Charleston, Beaufort and Georgetown, South Carolina. The result of this mingling of slaves from West Africa with the plantation culture awaiting them in America became Gullah; the genesis and taproot of African American culture.
