Superintendent Spearman Talks Flood

The Riley Institute at Furman University held their annual What Works SC awards ceremony this week in Columbia. ETV President, Linda O'Bryon, sat down with Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman during the event and talked with her about how the S.C. flood has impacted schools throughout the state. Spearman addressed the transportation issues and how schools can help those in need.

South Carolina ETV is inviting members of the public to be a part of the audience for a special edition of “Carolina Classrooms” dealing with court and legislative decisions regarding South Carolina education.  ETV will be taping at Chapman Auditorium at Francis Marion University on Thursday, October 22, at 6:00 PM.

New from Colonial Williamsburg: HERO Live! October 15, 1 p.m.

HERO Live! is the new name for the Colonial Williamsburg American history education series designed for students in grades 4-8. Using 21st century technology and dramatizations with re-enactors to play the roles of historical figures, the HERO Live! programs are correlated to standards, providing a compelling learning experience. The first program for 2015-16 entitled Balance of Power will air October 15 at 1:00 p.m. on ETV’s SC Channel (SCC).

Project-Based Learning Professional Development Feb. 5-6 at USC

The Center of Excellence for College and Career Readiness would like to invite you to our "Advanced Readiness Institute: Project-Based Learning" to be held February 5-6, 2016 at The Inn at USC.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a pedagogical approach that engages students by asking them to consider the "real world" application of school subjects. Many school districts in South Carolina are adopting PBL approaches, and PBL has been recognized by The South Carolina Council on Competitiveness and TransformSC as an "innovative practice."
