WGBH EdForum: Supporting and Engaging Students in the Middle Grades - Wed., Sept. 27, 8:00am - 5:00pm
On Wednesday, September 27th, WGBH will host an educational forum focused on the successes and challenges of supporting students in grades 6-8, formative years for young adolescents.
You, your station colleagues, and the educators your station partners with are all invited to stream part or all of the conference on Wednesday.
This one-day event will feature a diverse mix of presenters: academic researchers, practitioners, middle-school students, and leaders in education, who will present groundbreaking educational research and powerful stories. The event will be hosted by Claudio Sanchez, Education Correspondent for NPR, and a former elementary and middle school teacher.
Why focus on middle school students? Research suggests that during the middle school years, adolescents suffer a decline in family and community involvement that is crucial to their success. The WGBH EdForum will be a productive venue to share compelling stories and best practices so that families and communities can support their children during these important years.
EdForum outcomes will be reviewed with public media stations to identify effective ways to share findings that contribute to local, regional, and national efforts.
The link to stream the forum is below, please share it with educators and partners in your community.
More information can be found online at wgbhedforum.org
The forum will be live-streamed here.
