Connect educators in your network with new resources for working with at-risk youth! Invite them to join us for a free educator webinar on Tues. March 21st, with Principal Vonda Viland, featured in the powerful, award-winning, Independent Lens documentary, The Bad Kids.
In this transformative, professional learning experience, Principal Viland will provide educators, administrators, and social service providers with an opportunity to meaningfully discuss the unique needs of students from underserved communities, who are at risk for dropping out of high school. She will share lessons learned from these so-called “bad kids” that will inspire new approaches and perspectives on supporting student success.
About the film: The Bad Kids follows Principal Vonda Viland and her staff over a year as they coach at-risk teens to realize their full potential. Black Rock Continuation High School is one of California’s alternative schools for students at risk of dropping out of high school, many of whom are living with the effects of trauma.
