Shari Hutchinson is Director of the South Carolina Public Radio network, an eight-station public radio network that serves South Carolina and border regions of North Carolina and Georgia. She has worked with the Peabody award-winning series, Piano Jazz, NPR's longest running music program, for more than 25 years; she first served as engineer, then associate producer, and then became producer in 1986. In 2001, she received the state of South Carolina's highest honor in the arts—the Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award. And in 1989, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting named her Outstanding Arts and Performance Producer.
Hutchinson has also been the executive producer of the Chamber Music from the Spoleto Festival USA for over twenty years, and has produced numerous series and specials featuring classical music, American popular song, and African-American roots music including Just Plain Folks and The African-American Music Tree.
